Everyone of us hope that our chidren don't have to suffer from pain. Every parent would like their children to have happy, joyful and playful childhood. What to do if your child is sick? Go to a doctor. What to do if the problems still continues? Go to a doctor, again. What if after two years of growing pain and symptoms it is getting even worse. Where to go? See another doctor? After many medications and professional opinions there is tired little boy in front of my. His back seems to be under heavy load, which is hard to carry.
The mother is brave, the boy is brave. Some background information for you. This little boy fell of his bed when he was two years old. In the ambulance when heading to the hospital he was unconsious, but in the hospital he got up quite fast and started to play. At the moment he is 8 years old. This boy has been active before, but now he is suffering enormous pain when cycling or walking. He suffers febrile convulsions, he doesn't sleep at nights, he has lost his appetite and the tactile sensations are altered. Before happy child, now aggressive child. He is concentrating well in the school, but when getting home the nightmare starts. Family members can see the fit of rage as a tiredness of his eyes, but how this little child could ever identify this kind of feeling. Headaches are almost too much to handle, but how can little boy compare it to anything? It is sometimes so hard also for adults to describe how do you feel. No wonder that it is mission impossible for a little boy. Maybe we can think something when the child is crying of pain after tonsil operation, but after that he says that this is nothing compared to his headaches.
Quite often it is easy to guide child's body, really light touch is enough. Body is still so adaptable. This time I rest my hands to the sacral bone and the rib cage. Nothing happens, no ability to guide. I move my hands to the temporalis area and I can feel the amount of the tension in the tissue, enormous. I try few fascial manipulation points and it is really true, that the boy doesn't feel any pain or tension. Although under my hand this little human being is like crumpled bundle. He is looking at me with trusting eyes and waiting for me to do something. What next? He has been under so many examinations in the past few years. Can we make the difference, can his body react the way I propose? Or is this only one more opion among the others.
I decide or better way to say it. He guides me to start the treatment from the head. Tension is easing quite fast under my hands, tissue is responding very adaptable way, like the normal child. Tactile sensations are coming back, now he starts to feel pain and tension. I'm treating slowly and relaxing the body and the extremities with fascial manipulation. There is still so much to do, but at the same time so much happens. When the boy is standing after the treatment the correction of the posture is easy, I just guide a little bit and he gets it. Little one is visible tired, but that is good. What else you can expect, after all this. After treatment I'm eagerly waiting the news and here they are...
Mother's facebook update:
"Now when I'm writing this I really hope that tomorrow is not a bad day. Our boy was treated last tuesday by one physiotherapist, this time fascial manipulation. He was treated over one hour and after that we have been taken only one panadol, no pronaxen (this is VERY little)! We have been sleeping well, only one night was little restless, before he was getting up 5-25 times per night. We have been laughing and tolerance of disappointments is back. Also he has been really enthousiastic and joyful, it feels so good that I don't want to spoil that joy. Could it be possible that after two years there is still hope. Credit goes to our own physiotherapist, who suggested this treatment."
